About Us: Nancy and Sam Allison, the Owners of Magic Moments

We’re Sam and Nancy Allison, and we’re the owners of Magic Moments.  Nancy previously worked in the banking profession for 15 years, holding positions of Human Resource Manager and Chief Operations Officer at an independent bank.  Sam worked for many years as a musician at Church Street Station in Orlando.  Then life took an abrupt, but wonderful turn.  Our 2 ½ year old son was diagnosed with autism.  We began to concentrate on how to help our son make sense of his world.  Nancy enrolled in cognitive development classes, and decided that banking was not what the rest of her life held in store.  Sam and Nancy opened Magic Moments in April of 1994, and opened Magic Too! in August of 2000.  We’re a family owned operation, unlike chains or franchises, and we exist because we know through research that the first three years of a child’s life are the most important, and we want to help you give your child that “great start” to life!

Nancy holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, and went back to UCF and received an additional degree in Early Childhood in Dec. of 2007.  She also holds a Florida teaching certification, an Advanced Director’s Credential, and a national CDA.  She currently is very active with the Early Learning Coalition of Lake County.  The Early Learning Coalition of Lake County work keeps us up to date on child care funding, legislation, and information.  Nancy is also a member of the Early Childhood Association of Florida, the Southeastern Early Childhood Association, the National Association of Child Care Professionals, the Florida Association of Child Care Managers and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  Not meaning to brag, just letting you know that I do keep up with current educational practices.

We have two sons, Chris, who is 24, and Kevin, who is 22.  We continue to be involved in the field of special education and autism, and know that a child’s sensory system guides them to make sense of the world around them.  This knowledge allows us to plan activities that help each and every child feel successful.  We have a strong faith, and know that each and every child possesses special qualities.  You will find this faith in God, family, staff and children apparent in everything that we do here at our school.
